lyrics

Fireflies were flashing
as the cinders turned to ash.
We sat under the moonlight
hashing out our past.

Feels like it's been years,
and you've always had my ear.
We talked about our hopes
and rational fears.

You said maybe we're both broken
and this is how I deal.
Open new wounds,
give the old ones time to heal.

We looked up at the starts,
did some navel gazing too.
Stomachs pumped of lies,
starving for some truth.

Well, I don't know
what it means to you,
but all I want to do
is make something beautiful.

When the day breaks
like a fragile falling vase
memories fade and drift into a haze.
Let's hold on to that night
til our knuckles have turned white
soon the sun will rise
and I'll be blinded by the sight.

I could never see
in the early light of dawn
where I ought to be
but I know that this is wrong

Do you still recall
that cold November night
how it felt to be beaten down
and weary of the fight

Well, I don't know
what it means to you,
but all I want to do
is make something beautiful.
